What are dental veneers?
A dental veneer is a thin shell of tooth-colored material that is cemented on the front of a tooth to improve its appearance. Veneers also provide strength to the treated tooth. Veneers are custom made, so they look like natural teeth.
Can my smile benefit from veneers?
Dr. Robin Cropper may recommend veneers in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, if you have one or more of the following smile flaws:
– Discolored teeth
– Misshapen teeth
– Cracked or chipped teeth
– Worn teeth
– Slightly crooked teeth
– Gapped teeth
How are veneers placed?
A small amount of enamel is taken from the front of the tooth or teeth that will receive veneers. This allows room for the veneers in your mouth. Impressions of the tooth or teeth are taken so that the veneers can be custom made for your specific needs. Once the veneer is complete, our dentist will check the shade and fit of the veneer before permanently cementing the veneer onto the tooth.
How should I take care of my veneers?
It may come as a surprise to you that veneers don’t require any special care. Simply brush them twice a day and floss them once a day, as you would your regular teeth. Also, visit our office at least twice a year for your cleanings and exams.
