Porcelain Veneer
The
Consultation AppointmentIt is possible to show you
what your new smile could look like prior to beginning treatment by
using a preliminary diagnostic wax-up. Together, we will
carefully select the color, shape, and size of the teeth in order to
create your desired smile. Impressions are then taken of your
teeth and a model of your mouth is created for the dental
laboratory. The laboratory technician will fabricate a wax
"mock-up" of your teeth with your specifications and return it to
our office. This wax "mock-up" will then be presented to you
for your approval.
Treatment Appointments
The Preparation Appointment:
Your teeth will be prepared to accommodate the very thin, but
highly durable, veneer "facings." Impressions of your teeth
will be taken and sent to the laboratory for fabrication.
Temporary veneers will be placed in the interim in order to protect
your prepared, natural teeth. The temporary veneers can often
be fabricated from your wax "mock-up."
The Cementation Appointment:
The temporary veneers are removed and your new porcelain veneers
will be "tried in." Providing all of your specifications have
been met and you like the look of your new teeth, an adhesive
bonding agent or cement will then be used to permanently secure your
new veneers in place.
Caring for your new smile
Your new veneers will look, feel, and function like natural
teeth, and require the same level of care. Regular dental
appointments, along with good oral hygiene, will help ensure the
health and life of both your veneers and natural teeth.
